1, 2004 - 5:52pm - Unit #220 attempted to assist a stranded motorist
on I-70 west of Kingdom City, MO. The female driver stated she was
out of fuel but had no way to pay for gas. When 220 arrived, the
driver was seen giving a fuel can to another person that had stopped
to help. The female driver said she didn’t know who the person
was, but that the other person claimed they would return with fuel.
She also claimed that the other person was going to go to Columbia
first, and then head back with the fuel. Columbia, MO is another
30 miles from Kingdom City. Unit 220 decided (based on this information)
to call the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troop C stated they would
relay the call to Jefferson City and that Troop F would handle it
from there. 220 offered the female his cell phone, and she declined.
220 left the scene once the Trooper arrived.

6, 2004 - 2:10pm - Unit #220 assisted a motorist on I-270 south
of I-44. The driver was a new (16 year old) licensed driver and
got lost while trying to head home. 220 offered the teenage driver
his cell phone and stayed with the vehicle while the teenager made
arrangements for her mother to come redirect them back home. The
mother thanked 220 for staying with her daughter until she arrived.

8, 2004 - 10:40pm - Unit #220 assisted a stranded motorist on I-64
just east of Maryville Center Drive. The driver needed a tire jack
and a pry bar to change a flat tire and 220 provided both. The driver
thanked 220 for helping.

10, 2004 - 10:55pm - Unit #220 spotted a stranded motorist on the
ramp from southbound I-270 onto Gravois Road. The driver was blocking
a lane for an unknown reason so 220 decided to call Sunset Hills
Police and let them know about the situation. 220 left the scene
as soon as a Sunset Hills Police officer arrived on scene.
June
11, 2004 - 11:50pm - Unit #220 and #65 stopped to assist a stranded
motorist blocking the left turn lane from westbound Highway 30 onto
southbound I-270. The motorist told 220 he thought his battery was
dead. 220 used his jumper pack to jump start the car while 65 provided
traffic control. 220 got the car going and the motorist thanked
him.
