18, 2003 - 4:30pm - Unit #220 assisted a motorist with a flat tire
on I-70 at mile marker 171 while en route to Lees Summit, Missouri.
The motorist said he had never changed a flat tire before and was
on a cell phone to his father when 220 offered assistance. The driver
continued to talk to his father while 220 changed the tire. While
220 changed the tire, the driver snapped off a few pictures for
"proof that someone stopped to help". 220 suggested that the driver
get off at the next major city, because that tire was not going
to last in the shape that it was in. The motorists' father mentioned
that there was a Walmart Supercenter in Columbia, Missouri and that
he (the driver) should head there to get the tire fixed. 220 followed
the driver to Columbia, Missouri, where he exited the highway, and
then went on his way to Lees Summit.

22, 2003 - 10:00pm - Unit #65 and #220 assisted a motorist with
a flat tire on westbound I-44 just west of Highway 141. The driver
was trying to lower the spare when 65 and 220 arrived but he was
doing it incorrectly. 65 brought up his hydraulic jack and 220 grabbed
his 4-way tire iron. 220 showed the driver how to lower the spare
mini tire from inside the back of the minivan and 65 positioned
the jack under the van. 220 and 65 then changed the tire for the
driver and learned he was a minister on his way back home to St.
Clair, MO (about 50 miles away) with his wife and two young kids
in the van. 65 and 220 finished changing the tire a few minutes
later. 220 then told the driver that because of the spare mini tire
on the van, they could only drive at a top speed of 50mph back home.
The driver thanked them for their help and continued on his way.
