friend) while en route to a St. Louis Blues hockey game. The motorist

and blocked the right lane with his cones. He then provided his
4-way tire iron and hydraulic jack and proceeded to change the tire.
The motorist offered 220 money for his help, which he politely refused.
Instead, he gave her a business card and suggested they send in
a donation if they chose. She thanked 220 for his assistance.

17, 2002 - 4:30pm - Unit #65 (with unit #02 riding along) stopped
to assist a lady with a flat tire on eastbound Highway 30 just east
of I-270. The driver told 65 she didn't have the tool in her truck
to lower the spare tire from under the bed of the truck. She wanted
65 to call MODOT Motorist Assist to help her. 65 told her that since
she wasn't on an Interstate, Motorist Assist would probably not
respond. 65 called the Sunset Hills Police and they sent an officer
to the scene. The officer also told the driver that MODOT would
not respond. The driver called her husband to come to the scene
to help her. 65 told the Sunset Hills officer that he would remain
out with the vehicle. The officer then left and 65 heard him (over
the scanner) radio to his dispatcher, "I'll be in service...there's
a state vehicle with emergency lights on the scene and he and his
ride-a-long will remain out with the motorist". Her husband
arrived on the scene about 45 minutes later. 65 supplied him with
his hydraulic jack and lug nut wrench to take off the flat tire.
65 then remained at the scene and kept his jack under the truck
while the couple went to repair the flat tire. They returned 20
minutes later and put the repaired tire back on the truck. They
thanked 65 for helping and left the scene.
