3, 2002 - 3:00pm - Unit #11 was going northbound on 6th Street in
Wood River, IL approaching Route 143 when she noticed a black Chevy
van stalled in the middle of the intersection. 11 notified the Wood
River Police department through their non emergency number about
the stalled vehicle and that the occupants were attempting to push
it into the nearest parking lot. 11 made her way to 6th and Ferguson
and blocked off traffic so the two occupants in the van could push
it into the parking lot. It took them three or four minutes to get
the vehicle pushed into the lot. Just as they got it into the lot,
a Wood River Police car arrived. The driver declined all help, stating
that he was out of gas and was going to walk to the filling station,
which is a block from the parking lot. The police officer left the
scene. Five minutes later, the van was on its way.
