2, 2000 - 6:00pm - While on his way home from making a delivery
in Illinois, unit #220 stopped on the shoulder of eastbound I-64
just west of Route 159 to check on some motorists that stopped on
the inside shoulder. There were two vehicles with Iowa license plates
on their way to Virginia. Using CB EMERGENCY CHANNEL 9, unit #220
was able to get a hold of an Illinois State Police Dispatcher for
some assistance. The female driver originally stated that her father
was in need of some medical attention, which prompted 220 to call
on Channel 9. After stating what the situation was and other information,
the Illinois State Police sent an officer to the scene. The female
driver declined an ambulance, but instead, asked for a tow truck.
It turned out that her father has poor vision in darkness and that
was what prompted both vehicles to stop on the side of the road.
The Fairview Heights Police Officer thanked 220 for his help and
said he was free to "go on his way".

6, 2000 - 8:55pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist on the shoulder
of eastbound I-44 just east of Highway 141. The motorist had a tow
truck on the way so 65 stayed behind them with his lights on until
it arrived since the shoulder was very narrow.

11, 2000 - 8:05pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist on the off-ramp
from southbound I-270 onto Highway 21. The motorist said his car
broke down and he he needed a ride to his church. 65 conveyed the
motorist to his church near Highway 21 and Gravois Rd.

11, 2000 -10:05pm - Unit #220 assisted a stranded motorist that
was replacing an alternator on the shoulder of I-70, just east of
the Earth City Expressway in Earth City. 220 provided light from
his flashlight & also provided a jump start when the motorists'
vehicle would not turn over. In order to do this, 220 had to turn
his vehicle against eastbound traffic so that the cables would reach.

13, 2000 - 7:45pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist with a flat tire
on the inside shoulder of westbound I-44 one mile west of Highway
141. The driver was a little nervous about being outside his vehicle
next to the fast lane so 65 stayed behind him with his lights on
until he finished changing the tire.

14, 2000 - 2:00pm - Unit #220 assisted the Creve Coeur Police and
Fire Department with a two vehicle accident with injuries at Olive
Blvd and Old Olive Street Road. A Ford Contour was making a left
turn onto Old Olive when it was struck by a minivan, pinning it
against a concrete median and a metal pole. The driver of the car
had to be extricated from the vehicle, placed on a stretcher, and
then put in an ambulance to be taken to St. John's Hospital. The
driver of the minivan sustained minor head trauma and arm lacerations.
220 assisted by blocking off the left turn lane with traffic cones
and with his truck. He was then asked to keep traffic moving eastbound,
by ignoring the 4-way electric signal. He was thanked by the fire
chief for "coming and helping out". 220 left the scene
after stopping traffic in both directions for the fire truck and
the ambulance.

15, 2000 - 10:05am - While making a delivery for his courier service,
220 was the first on the scene of a three vehicle accident with
injuries on Hwy 40, just east of McCausland Avenue. 220 radioed
his dispatcher, who promptly called 911. 220 asked for EMS also,
because there was a pregnant woman involved in the accident. Within
a minute, St. Louis City Police and Fire were on the scene. Twenty
five minutes later, 220 left the scene and was back en route to
make his delivery.

24, 2000 - 4:45pm - Unit #220 assisted a stranded motorist with
a flat tire on I-44, just east of Rolla, Missouri. 220 changed the
tire, and the three young motorists were on their way home.

24, 2000 - 8:35pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist on the shoulder
of southbound I-270 just north of Highway 30. The driver stated
that his parents were on the way so 65 stayed behind him until they
arrived.

26, 2000 - 8:40pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist on the shoulder
of southbound I-270 just south of I-44. The young lady's car broke
down while on her way back to college so she called her father to
come get her. 65 stayed behind them with his lights on while they
loaded her stuff into her father's car.
