and within a few minutes a Missouri State Highway Patrol Car pulled
up behind 65. 65 explained the situation to the Trooper . He said
"ok" and remained on the scene. 73 returned ten minutes
later with the oil and the motorist was able to restart his car.
The Trooper thanked 73.

65 directed traffic until police and fire arrived.
October 2, 1998 - 11:00pm - Unit #73 and
unit #65 were driving east on I-44 approaching Bowles Ave. when
they heard a truck driver give a report on CB channel 9 of a drunk
driver in a red sports car heading west on I-44 passing over Highway
141. This was only a mile away from their location so 65 and 73
turned around at Bowles Ave. and headed west on I-44 to try to catch
up with the driver and confirm the report. They caught up to the
drunk driver two miles west of Highway 141 and he was going 20mph
in the fast lane. 65 immediately turned on his rear lights to warn
other drivers and 73 stopped on the shoulder to call 911. The drunk
driver continued going 20mph and began to cross over lanes of traffic
(back and forth). 65 followed him like this for about a mile. 73
then radioed to 65 stating the police were on the way. After the
driver passed Antire Road, he slowed to 5mph. By this time, there
was a traffic jam behind 65 because no one wanted to try to pass
the swerving driver. 73 caught up to 65 by driving down the shoulder
with his lights on. They followed the drunk driver for another two
miles at a speed of 40mph (he was still swerving the whole time).

cars entered the interstate from Highway 109. The drunk driver slowed
to 5mph but still would not stop with three police cars behind him.

the drunk driver to stop. The officers opened his door, dragged
him out, and arrested him. 65 and 73 stayed behind the police cars
and stopped traffic while this was going on. They put him in a police
car and moved all the cars to the shoulder. 65 and 73 stopped on
